Staff-Therapists:

Adrianne Richard, MA, LMHC

Hello!  I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor who has been actively working in the mental health field for over seven years.  Through my work I have been fortunate to work with and treat individuals with a variety of mental health diagnoses, including substance abuse, anger management issues, attention disorders, pervasive developmental disorders, and many severe trauma issues (e.g., abuse, grief/loss).  While I treat individuals of all ages much of my work has been with children and adolescents.

I believe in treating the whole person, a holistic approach, and so my therapeutic practices include the body, mind, and spirit of my clients.  I view my client as much more than a “problem” or diagnosis, but rather a person with goals who is looking to make his/her life better in some way.  My clients and I often find that expressive therapy techniques (including art, music, movement, and play therapy) help in treating all three aspects of the whole person.  The expressive arts expand upon traditional talk therapy, using a combination of empathic listening and client self-expression to foster a client’s process of discovery and understanding.  I also practice from an "evidence-based best practices" modality, meaning that I highly respect current research that indicates the best outcome for my client and his/her family, and I tailor treatment accordingly.  Additionally I believe in a strengths-based perspective, focusing on client and family strengths and fostering these to achieve a client’s stated goals.  I strive to create a safe and supportive environment in which compassion and empathy pave a path for growth and healing.

I received my Master’s Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with a specialization in Holistic Studies from Lesley University in Cambridge, MA in 2005.  I became licensed in Massachusetts in 2007.

I look forward to meeting you, learning about you, and collaborating with you to achieve goals on your path of learning and healing.
