Staff-Therapists:
Alan Webber, LICSW, LADC 1
As Executive Director of Wilmington Family Counseling Service I oversee all clinical, operational, and financial aspects of our agency. I have over 16 years experience directing mental health and substance abuse agencies.
I am a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker and Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor, Supervisory level. At WFCS I work with adults and couples specializing in marital counseling, substance abuse/addiction treatment, anxiety and depressive disorders, as well as offering treatment for a multitude of adult issues to promote high performance and effective functioning.
I also conduct substance abuse evaluations for individuals who are referred to our agency by the courts, lawyers, and schools.
Therapy Model:
My orientation to therapy encompasses a cognitive/behavioral approach. I look at problems from a learning perspective to understand behavioral problems and to determine what stressors in the environment are contributing to the problem. This perspective lends itself to a positive, action-oriented treatment model. I tend to use a short-term treatment model for most problems, with a focus on problem-solving, coping and behavioral change.
Previous Training/Experience:
I received my Masters’ of Social Work from Simmons College School of Social Work, and my Bachelor of Human Services from Lesley University. I have worked for many mental health and substance abuse treatment centers in Massachusetts including: Arbour Counseling Service, Advocates Community Counseling, AdCare Hospital, and South Middlesex Opportunity Counsel.
