Carol Geffroy, LICSW
I am a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker with over 15 years experience working with children, adolescents and adults. I especially enjoy working with children.
My specialties include: depression and anxiety, relationship and life transition difficulties, parenting and sibling support, special needs, learning disabilities, stress management, support to caregivers, traumatic injuries (including TBI) chronic illness and grief or loss.

I believe in providing a nonjudgmental, nurturing, strength focused environment, where clients feel heard, safe and respected. The approaches I use include cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and solution based focused therapy. I also utilize expressive arts and play therapy when indicated. My practice style emphasizes health rather than pathology. I work with individuals to help them make positive behavioral and situational changes to reduce stress, improve mood, relationships and overall functioning/quality of life, through proactive problem solving, communication techniques and effective coping strategies.
Training/Experience:
I received my Masters’ of Social Work from Boston University School of Social Work, and my Bachelor of Arts in English from Boston College. I have worked for 15+ years in behavioral health outpatient, school, child welfare and in patient hospital settings. I have experience and expertise working well with schools, family courts, community resources and allied health providers, to navigate multidisciplinary systems to help address/support advocacy planning needs related to IEPs, family reunification, guardianship, foster care, adoption, and student to adult living transition.
